Mosquitone Detector 5.0

"Mosquitone Detector" is an application designed for sound measurement that identifies high-frequency noises and ultrasonic sounds that are often imperceptible to the human ear.

It is possible to be exposed to artificial high-frequency noise without being aware of it, and this application serves as a tool to detect and visualize such noises.

While the audible range for humans typically extends from 20 Hz to 20 kHz, the ability to perceive very high frequencies above 10 kHz diminishes with age.

Instances of high-frequency noise generators being deployed in diverse locations to deter young individuals and animal pests using ultrasonic mosquito sounds, imperceptible to most adults, are on the rise.

In some cases, young children may find themselves in uncomfortable noise environments unnoticed by adults. Utilizing this app can assist in identifying high-frequency noise, allowing for a prompt departure from such spaces or the elimination of the noise source.

The application features two operating modes – "Detection" and "Search". The "Detection" mode determines the presence of high-frequency and ultrasonic sounds that may go unheard, while the "Search" mode locates the direction of the high-frequency sound source once identified. However, the "Search" mode is only accessible after identifying the peak frequency in "Detection" mode.

• Detectable frequency ranges: 8kHz - 16kHz / 16kHz - 23kHz (divided into two bands)
• Gain range switch function: 0dB - 100dB / -10dB - 90dB / -20dB - 80dB (in Detection mode)
• Measurement screen rotation function (Rotate)

The operation procedure includes band selection for detectable frequencies and mode selection between "Detection" and "Search". The "Snapshot" feature allows capturing and saving measurement results as image files in "Photos", along with a timestamp.

It is important to note that the application is not able to determine the directional occurrence if frequencies change periodically or randomly. Additionally, ultrasonic measurements are subject to the sensitivity characteristics of the built-in microphone, impacting measurement accuracy.

Due to ongoing research on the health effects of exposure to high-frequency and ultrasonic sounds, consultation with an expert is recommended if elevated high-frequency noise levels are detected regularly.
